Spring Open Event - 11th May & 12th May

Healthy planet, healthy people, healthy working

During B Corp month, workroom is really starting to understand and harness how sustainability is fast becoming a founding principal for most companies.  The UK is leading the way in the race to get as many big companies B Corp certified as possible and we are looking to ourselves and industry to make the changes needed.

What does it take to be B Corp certified?

In order to be B Corp certified, companies know that they must adhere and set the highest standards, verify their performance, accountability and transparency in procedures. They must also ultimately make (often significant) changes to produce lower emissions, improve their local environment, and create a healthy happy workforce. Certified B Corp companies are leaders in the global movement towards ensuring that businesses put social and environmental ethics at the very heart of their everyday operations. These are all principles we hold very close here at workroom.

‘To become B Corp certified a business must prove direct actions for sustainability , demonstrate responsible attitudes to employees, suppliers, communities and the environment.’

What does workroom hope to achieve?

Here are workroom we currently try to offset the carbon footprint of any garden office by planting twenty five trees per building. We are conscious of the fact that our effort will need to go further in the future and as a team we want to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible. As a young company we are proud to now be taking our first few steps towards carbon neutrality, and we hope to go further in 2022 .

We will spend the next few months analysing and recording every aspect of a workroom’s build and installation. We will look at how we run the manufacturing processes, where we source our materials from and even each employee’s commute. We hope to see and map the operational and personal changes we can make to be as sustainable and green as possible.

Wish us luck and keep up to date with the journey @little_green_rooms! If you want to find out more about our sustainability efforts, get in touch
